Externships are made available to matriculating students interested in participating in clinical rotations in a rural mixed animal practice setting.

Our privately owned facility boasts a pristine, well-equipped small animal and equine hospital, embodying our commitment to state-of-the-art veterinary care in rural West Virginia.
What to Expect from Us:
- One-on-One Learning: With a focus on personalized attention, we typically host one student at a time, ensuring hands-on experience and mentorship.
- Variety of Cases: From small animals to equine and food animals, you’ll encounter a diverse caseload throughout your externship.
- Excellent Medicine: Equipped with advanced tools including ligasure, surgical laser, gastroscopy, and in-house labs, you’ll witness and participate in cutting-edge veterinary care.

Application Process & Timeline
To apply, email the following information to the practice manager at info@alleghenyequine.com.
- Curriculum vitae or resume
- Cover letter outlining your program requirements (hours, cases), your desired dates, and your goals during the externship.
- Copy of your AVMA PLIT student insurance.
- A letter of reference from a professor should be emailed directly to the practice manager by the person giving the reference.
Once your application and the letter of reference are received, the practice manager will review and respond to confirm acceptance. Responses may take up to two weeks.
